Redwood Technologies Ltd

Redwood enhanced its DNX-1100
product in 2003, which helped the company establish itself as
Europe’s leading technology player in the field of Value Added
Network Services. The DNX-1100 is aimed at reducing both capital and
operational expenditures, requirements more significant than ever
for carriers operating on tight budgets. It is able to run multiple
services, including mass calling, prepaid services, VoIP, Unified
Messaging and conferencing. The DNX-1100 now supports a wider than
ever range of protocols including IP, SS7, V5.2, GSM and SMS.
Among key deployments of the DNX-1100 in 2003 was the
provision of one of Europe’s largest mass calling systems at KPN
Telecom in The Netherlands: Mass calling deals with the specialized
ability to process the huge volume of calls generated by mass media
events. Popular 'reality TV' shows such as 'Big Brother' and ‘Pop
Idol’ are well known mass call generators. This service type has
been a key new revenue source for carriers. Redwood also provided
Africa’s largest prepaid billing system to Nigeria’s incumbent
telco, Nigerian Telecommunications Ltd (Nitel). Aimed at combating
bad debt and collection issues, the project will enable Nitel to
make further infrastructure investments from the additional revenues
generated.
