InnoMedia Upgrades IP VideoPhone
InnoMedia has announced its version two software upgrade for its IP VideoPhone. The phone can interoperate with Polycom's ViewStation, ViaVideo, and PictureTel, Microsoft's NetMeeting, CUseeMe's (now First Visual Communications) 5.0 client and MCU server, and also Cisco and Ezenia! gateways and gatekeepers. The expanded features include an auto-answer option, adjustable bandwidth support from 32 to 128 Kbps, and a network status indicator. The IP VideoPhone can be configured and upgraded remotely via a Web browser from any PC on the network.

Alcatel Unveils OmniVista
Alcatel has announced a comprehensive enterprise network management solution set called OmniVista. OmniVista provides the ability to manage all of Alcatel's data switches from a holistic, network-wide point of view. Developed internally for converged management, OmniVista is a multi-user, Java-based, client/server application that is open for future product evolution. With OmniVista for the Omni family of data products and OmniVista for the OmniPCX 4400 IP-PBX, users can run both voice and data platforms on the same NT server. Both products offer a common user interface, and users can also receive display alarms and perform network discovery of Alcatel's voice and data products through OmniVista's current data management platform.

GMT Previews WFM Software
GMT has previewed its new workforce management software for call centers, GMT Planet Mission Control (available later this year). The WFM tool enables managers to monitor and respond to all information on a single display. This includes display and analysis of key statistics about call volumes, service levels, average speed to answer (ASA), and adherence to schedules and staffing. Mission Control enables managers to view raw data, or compare and analyze differences in the data. Multiple levels of data can be displayed, from a single queue up to an entire call center's operations.

Envox To Provide Development Software
Envox 4.0 development software will be featured on an application companion CD made available with the Intel Converged Communications Platform. Trillium Enhances SIGTRAN Solution
Trillium has added the new Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) User Adaptation Layer (SUA) software to its portfolio of SIGTRAN solutions for enabling telecommunications carriers to implement phone services in a converged network environment. Trillium's SUA signaling software enables legacy and next-generation networks to communicate and interact in providing end user services such as automatic call-back and mobile roaming over packet-based networks. Other SIGTRAN offerings include the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), M3UA, and the Integrated Services Digital Network Q.921 User Adaptation Layer. SIGTRAN can be integrated into products such as signaling gateways, media gateway controllers, IP-resident databases, radio network controllers, and softswitches.

Force Announces 3U CompactPCI System
Force Computers, a Solectron company, has announced the Centellis 4735 3U system, featuring Force's SENTINEL "universal mode" PCI-to-PCI bridge technology for cPCI system or peripheral slot functionality. Based on Force's cPCI-735 single board computer, it's powered by the Mobile Pentium III 700 MHz processor. This four-slot, H.110 CT bus-compatible system provides a Windows 2000-ready solution for network firewall security, Web caching, DSL concentration, IP over satellite, video on demand, and other CPE applications. It also supports PICMG 2.1, R2.0 full hot swap in desktop or rackmount configurations, suitable for CT integration of off-the-shelf, third-party I/O solutions.

ADLINK has introduced their compactPCI CPU module. The cPCI-6780 is a 6U high plug-in card that comes standard with either a Pentium III or Celeron processor featuring up to 1.3 GHz speeds running on a combined Front Side Bus (FSB) at speeds up to 133 MHz. It supports MS Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Red Hat Linux 7.0, VxWorks, and MS-DOS 6.2+. Each of ADLINK's modules supports up to seven other boards/cards or PCI bus master devices and come with enhanced IDE for up to four additional storage devices: ATAPI CD-ROM drive, 1.44 MB FDD, or 2.5" HDD for storage (2.1 GB or higher).

Crystal Partners With Plesk
Crystal Group and Plesk have released the first server appliance in Crystal's RIA product line. This new .87U server appliance comes with the Plesk Server Adminstrator software pre-installed and configured. Plesk Server Administrator (PSA) is a Web-based server management tool for UNIX and Linux-based servers. The server management interface is accessible by both the server administrator and their clients. RIA server appliances come preloaded with Red Hat Linux 6.2 or 7.0, or FreeBSD 4.2.

Artisoft Launches Call Center Solution
Artisoft has announced a new call center offering in conjunction with the fourth-generation release of its flagship TeleVantage software PBX. TeleVantage Call Center offers IP telephony to enable Web-based call centers and support agents working remotely, intelligent call management, advanced queuing, agent training and monitoring, trend analysis reporting, and real-time statistic monitoring. Cambridge Releases Voice Studio
Cambridge VoiceTech has released a Windows desktop development environment for VoiceXML, the Cambridge Voice Studio. The downloadable evaluation version integrates Microsoft's text-to-speech capability, allowing programmers to develop full scale voice applications on their Windows NT desktops or laptops. These programs can then be ported to an enterprise telephony environment using the company's VoiceXML engine, the Cambridge Voice Gateway. Cambridge also offers full scale voice automation for call centers and other enterprise functions. Cambridge is a partner of Nuance and SpeechWorks, and also partners with computer telephony vendors Brooktrout, Dialogic, and Velocite.

Knowlagent Announces Version 6.0
Knowlagent has announced that KnowDev 6.0, its e-learning platform software solution, is now available. Version 6.0 has several new modules, including KnowDev Course Packager, which makes it easier to move courses and reviews from one system to another, and KnowDev Enterprise, which tracks agent training from all sites. Other features include a customized toolbar, a Revert to Last Published feature, and a Student Today option (which shows agent progress). Knowlagent's non-disruptive training platform seamlessly integrates with a contact center's telephony systems such as workforce management, ACD, and quality monitoring. Training is delivered directly to the agent's desktop in small amounts during low call volumes, and can be customized with text, graphics, video, and audio content.

Performance Technologies Announces MicroLegend
Performance Technologies has announced the MicroLegend Signaling Blade, a full-featured, embedded signaling gateway in a compactPCI form factor. It is specifically designed for telecom equipment manufacturers seeking to integrate SS7/IP signaling capabilities into their current and next-generation designs. Its distributed software architecture allows two ore more blades to be clustered together, and it can be configured as a signaling end point or a signal transfer point in the SS7 network. The MicroLegend also provides signaling networking capabilities between traditional public-switched and next-generation IP telephony networks. Additionally, it will be extended to be compatible with the PICMG's upcoming 2.16 specification for cPCI packet switching backplanes.

NICE Interoperates With Cisco
NICE Systems has announced the interoperability of its VoIP recording solution with Cisco's Internet Protocol Contact Center (IPCC) solution. The combination will provide VoIP recording solutions to customers that are deploying IP telephony networks. It will accommodate all forms of communication taking place on an IP network, including voice, e-mail, Web chat, and collaboration, as well as agent desktop activity. NICE VoIP recording technology is fully integrated within NICE's current CEM product line, NiceLog and NiceUniverse, enabling any existing or future NICE customer to introduce VoIP recording into their environment. Cisco IPCC is based on the Cisco Intelligent Contact Management software, which is deployed in traditional call centers supporting a variety of disparate legacy platforms and networks.
