Actix (

Alert) is introducing the Spotlight Workgroup Server solution, according to an announcement today. A centralized system created to assist engineers in efficiently and quickly acting on network status information, the solution is part of the Acix One framework, a set of architectural software principles and capabilities designed to enhance efficiency in radio access Network Status Management..
Spotlight Workgroup Server combines with Actix' previous Spotlight product, a desktop solution that detects and assesses network problems, and offers diagnosis and management reports.
"Designed to support small workgroups of concurrent Spotlight users and to be accessible from anywhere within the enterprise, Spotlight Workgroup Server enables engineers to drive even more value from Spotlight's troubleshooting and optimization features,” said Actix Product Manager Keith Reed. “And because it is based on theActix One principles, it provides a scalable, future-proof platform, which can be extended to serve other performance engineering needs such as automatic optimization, web-based audit and report, and engineering task prioritization and management.”
The Actix One compatibility allows for the constant automatic processing of drive test data into a centrally shared Spotlight project, whenever data files are added to a central landing zone. There is no need to re-import files for new users, thus freeing up engineer's time and resources for focusing on more useful tasks.
The Workgroup Server’s capabilities include associating information such as 'why data was collected' and 'who collected it' with each submitted file. It can then use the information together with properties such as location, date and type to retrieve data in further detail.
The platform is able to be configured in order to integrate with network configuration management systems. It possesses the capability to track and store changes to network configuration, thereby analyzing and presenting performance information against the network configuration active at the time it was collected. The platform also for the first time lets Spotlight applications be deployed in a Citrix environment. Thus, engineers can have access to shared Spotlight projects from anywhere.
Spotlight Workgroup Server offers several advantages to operators looking for engineering efficiency improvements and a reduction of operational spending. For example, built-in automatic processing engines present engineers with information quicker, promoting the use of standardized processes.
Access to a central database and archive enhances the visibility of information and allows engineers to re-use available data right away, without the need to wait for it to be reloaded. Several weeks of data can be stored and shared across multiple nodes.
