Laserfiche, a provider of digital document and records management systems, has released Laserfiche Rio, a flexible, scalable and streamlined solution for enterprise content management (ECM).

Built on a Microsoft (News - Alert) platform, Rio uses Microsoft-standard tools, including MMC snap-ins, WMI and the .NET framework, to simplify system administration. The company explains that Laserfiche Workflow, which is built on the Windows Workflow Foundation, helps organizations automate everyday tasks, optimize business processes and share information with a wide variety of applications. Thanks to a seamless integration with SharePoint, users can work with both paper and electronic documents from a uniform, user-friendly interface.

Laserfiche CEO, Nien-Ling Wacker, noted that the ECM industry has been deluged with complex and difficult-to-implement systems that have been cobbled together from many different products.

According to Wacker, the time is right for an innovative solution that is easy to purchase, deploy and administer. Their new solution transcends product boundaries to unite document management, business process management and transparent records management in a single enterprise solution.

Company sources inform that with Rio, organizations simply purchase named user licenses that range from $700 to $100 per user, based on the quantity purchased. These licenses provide a complete range of ECM functionality, including workflow automation, Web-based document management, audit trail tracking, optional DoD 5015.2-certified records management and powerful capture tools that unify content located in disparate systems and formats.

Laserfiche Rio also includes an unlimited number of Laserfiche Servers and repositories, which can help organizations to support back ups, failover clusters, testing environments and multiple locations.

Frank Hagy, CIO of the Florida League of Cities, said that Rio will help them streamline administration, add additional functionality and reduce our annual support costs.

“It’s a refreshing way to think about ECM,” stated Hagy.

Wacker said that they design their products to make complex systems simpler, and
Rio provides what enterprises have been looking for-- an intuitive, easy-to-use ECM system that builds on their existing Microsoft infrastructure.

Laserfiche creates simple and elegant document management solutions that help organizations run smarter. The company recently announced its commitment to continue to work with its scanner partners as they develop more advanced scanning solutions.

Laserfiche Technical Support Manager, Andy Wang, noted that they have a certification process to ensure that new scanner products work seamlessly with the Laserfiche product suite. They also have a growing number of customers who rely on them to confirm that a scanner model can, for example, scan up to 100 pages per minute into Laserfiche.
