SIMtone Corporation announced that its new SIMtone Virtual Service Platform (VSP) software is now available. The new SIMtone VSP enables service providers, enterprise organizations and SMBs to transform existing application and desktop infrastructures into “cloud computing-enabled” infrastructures. These are highly manageable and securely accessible on-demand and from any LAN, WAN or Internet access point.
The SIMtone VSP allows transitioning of multiple and various kinds of desktop operating systems and applications which are hosted in virtual environments, terminal servers, blade PCs and existing distributed desktop PCs. These can be aggregated, managed, migrated and provisioned as end-user cloud services conveniently.
SIMtone VSP also supports VMware Server and ESX, Windows XP, Vista and Terminal Server hosts, multi-zone network security and their combinations. It offers automated, user-activity driven, peak capacity-based guest machine management, load balancing, and failure recovery, along with helping reduce investments on real-estate and power due to its virtual datacenters.
The SIMtone VSP provides a simple and flexible path for virtualization efforts. It is cost effective besides enabling SMBs to transition to cloud computing easily with a failback-safe migration from distributed to virtual desktop environments. This can be securely and flexibly managed in-house or in external hosting facilities.
It offers a GUI-based administration console which can provide, activate and manage virtual guest machines, terminal servers, blade- and PC-based desktops. This can use existing IT systems itself. SIMtone is a more powerful and secure alternative to solutions like Citrix, allowing users to access their computing environment on-demand from any LAN or Internet access point without requiring a computer, the company said.
“Organizations of all sizes can take advantage of the benefits virtualization has to offer, yet they are typically challenged by the cost and complexity to do so,” said Kurt Ziegler, SIMtone’s executive vice president, High Performance Computing (HPC). “SIMtone VSP provides the capability to quickly transform existing IT infrastructures into cloud computing environments instantly and securely accessible from everywhere, and offers the easiest migration path to realize the full value of virtual desktops.”
SIMtone VSP comes in three versions, Business, Enterprise and Stratus editions which can be downloaded, self-installed and self-configured on commodity hardware. All of them can deliver optimum performance and scalability at the same time reducing data center resources like servers, rack space and power.
The Business version includes full service management features for virtual guest machines, terminals servers, blade PCs and others, while providing installation in private data centers and multi-tenancy hosted ones.
The Enterprise version supports multi-zone network security deployments and the Stratus edition allows load-balancing and automated failure recovery. This enables easy and inexpensive ways to scale and manage virtual desktop and application environments saving on real-estate and power requirements.
SIMtone enables cloud services, such as virtual desktops, DaaS/SaaS (
