SunGard Availability Services Extends Data Availability with Secure2Disk According to Enterprise Strategy Group Research Report

For many organizations, data growth is highlighting the performance and reliability problems of tape-centric data protection strategies, according to a recent report by the analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG)*. The firm identifies these issues as driving organizations to deploy disk-based technologies in their backup processes but such organizations are typically only addressing onsite operational recovery.
In its report, ESG sees the combination of local disk-based backup and emerging, remote cloud-based storage for disaster recovery working together to provide "a compelling benefit" for end-user organizations. In its research report "SunGard Extends Data Availability with Secure2Disk," ESG positions Secure2Disk as a natural extension to SunGard's business continuity portfolio. The report reviews Secure2Disk's advantages over on-premises backup software, including performance, reliability, scalability, security and cost.
