U.S. Election Assistance Commission and Americaneagle.com Launch New Website

ALEXANDRIA, Va. --(Business Wire)--

Americaneagle.com, a leading Website design, development and hosting company, is pleased to announce the launch of the newly redeveloped U.S. Election Assistance (EAC) Website -- www.eac.gov.

The EAC Website delivers a dynamic online portal for the public to access a wealth of voting information including election management resources, voting system testing and certification resources for voters and information on the National Voter Registration Act. The new EAC Website encompasses sophisticated Web 2.0 graphics and is programmed with a comprehensive Content Management System powered by Americaneagle.com's idev® platform, enabling the EAC staff to have full control over Website management. Furthermore, the site is equipped with Americaneagle.com's idev® Broadcast Email Tool and several custom features that allow EAC to extend the commission's outreach. Website users can easily find all data using the site's EAC Clearinghouse Tool. Specific searches can be organized by data type and filtered by tags in order to provide a more efficient search and overall usability experience. The site also includes features such as Multimedia Resources and an Election Resource Library that houses hundreds of commonly requested EAC reports and materials.

In addition to EAC's customized site features, the new Website is also powered by Akamai's (News - Alert) Dynamic Site Accelerator solution which leverages Akamai's globally-distributed cloud computing platform of over 65,000 servers in 71 countries to provide the following benefits to EAC:

  • Significantly improve site performance
  • Provide Disaster Recovery/COOP to ensure high availability
  • Mitigate DDoS attacks
  • Provide scalability on-demand

"We embarked on this redevelopment project with a modest budget but an ambitious goal to completely modernize EAC.gov to reflect the latest widely-accepted principles and practices of web navigation, design, usability and Web 2.0 technology. We believe our new site gives the public a reason to visit and a reason to return again and again," said EAC Executive Director Thomas Wilkey.

"Americaneagle.com is proud to have partnered with the EAC to create a true portal for voting information," says Chris Foss of Americaneagle.com. "The commission serves as a national clearinghouse of information on election administration, and this interactive Website promises to promote their mission using modern Website technology."

"Maintaining 100% uptime without the addition of more infrastructure and an alternate data center was critical to the EAC operations. During a data center outage, Akamai's solution instantaneously, and without any human intervention, fails over to the backup EAC notification page in the Akamai cloud. Akamai's Dynamic Site Accelerator solution enables the EAC website to implement continuity-of-operations, deliver the site faster, securely and allow scalability-on-demand," said Tom Ruff, Vice President, Federal Sales, Akamai.
