Strategy Analytics (News - Alert) Inc. reported that the total number of broadband subscriptions worldwide will be close to 1 billion by 2015. The Asia-Pacific region is currently responsible for almost 45 percent of the total broadband subscription.
Ben Piper who is the author of the report and Director of the Strategy Analytics Multiplay Market Dynamics service said that “While broadband growth has been impressive, it is important to note that in 2010 more than 60 percent of households worldwide have no access to the Internet—much less broadband.”

As per the report, around one quarter of broadband connections would be via fiber by 2015. Although the average revenue per user will decline slightly, the service revenues are bound to grow nearly 9 percent over the forecast period.
