Gigaset Introduces DECT Cordless Telephone with Social Media Features

By Mandira Srivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Over the last few years, users have been adopting DECT (News - Alert) cordless phone systems from the traditional phone systems. DECT has a major share in the cordless telephone market.

According to a press release, Gigaset Communications, Inc. offered the availability of the new Gigaset C610A IP DECT telephone in the United States. It includes four parallel active calls (three VoIP and one PSTN) as well as three built-in answering machines.

The C610A IP provides you with the ability to check your emails and interact with people using  Facebook and Twitter right from the handset.

"Gigaset continues to provide our customers with quality DECT telephones for the home and small business," said Tony Stankus, Gigaset Product and Marketing Director. "With the availability of the C610A IP, we are delivering not only high-quality telephones, but also the ability to connect through Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter. We are also excited to be partnering with Skinit.com to provide customization for our select Gigaset phones."

The C610A IP continues a room monitoring function where upon detecting a noise, the handset dials another extension or a predetermined phone number.

Additionally, Gigaset is declaring the availability of customized phone Skins from Skinit.com for the following models of Gigaset telephones: C610A IP, SL785, and C590/C595. The system offers High-Definition Sound Performance (HDSP) using the G.722 CODEC to deliver exceptional quality audio when calling via the Internet.

Users can personalize their Gigaset DECT telephone with one of the many existing designs available on Skinit (News - Alert).com or upload their own images and designs to use with the Skinit.com Customizer. The C610H handset comes with the C610A IP system and has a 1.8-inch color display, a standard 2.5mm headset jack and storage for up to 150 phone numbers.

In other company news, TMCnet reported that Gigaset Communications has announced the launch of its telephony and convergence product suite at the Consumer Electronic Show 2011.
