Con Edison, a regulated utility that provides electric service in New York City, has selected Send Word Now’s emergency voice and text communication services to communicate timely information to its 14,000 employees, enhance safety protocols and mobilize lines of business.
Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the largest investor-owned energy companies, with approximately $14 billion in annual revenues and $33 billion in assets. It supports a customer base of more than 3 million customers.
In a release, Terrence Walsh, director of information technology planning for Con Edison, said the company needed a communication tool that was available 24/7/365 from any location, anytime, anywhere, to any device, and thus selected Send Word Now for its proven technology and experience in supporting large organizations during emergencies, as well as for its day-to-day operational expertise.
Send Word Now's messaging platform is capable of transmitting hundreds of thousands of voice and text messages in minutes, receiving responses and monitoring and reporting the results. The SWN Alert Service is designed to reach anyone, anywhere, anytime, with any device over any type of connection.
The emergency voice and text communication service provides on-demand alerting and response in the immediate wake of an emergency for speed recovery, minimize loss, and help maintain public confidence. In fact, most organizations are held accountable for documenting their communications response in a large-scale emergency situation.
"During an emergency or time sensitive situations, it is critical for these providers to be able to immediately communicate and coordinate with employees and customers. Send Word Now is the ideal solution for these organizations," said Tony Schmitz, president and CEO of Send Word Now, in the release.
