Bank of Hawaii Implements Everbridge Aware Emergency Notification System

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Bank of Hawaii, primary subsidiary of Bank of Hawaii Corp., a regional bank holding company, has reportedly selected Everbridge’s Aware (News - Alert) emergency notification system to improve business continuity communications, automate critical communications and to communicate during pandemics, such as the H1N1, or swine flu, outbreak.

According to bank officials, Everbridge was chosen for value and ease of use, only after evaluating seven incident notification system vendors. Everbridge Aware system is already in use with number of business units within the bank for emergency application and day-to-day operations.

The emergency application helps to spread time-sensitive communications to bank’s 2,500 employees in more than 140 locations throughout Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Saipan and Palau.

“By using Everbridge on a regular basis for business continuity and day-to-day operations, the bank has realized improved communication flow and significant time savings,” Raymond Trombley, corporate business continuity manager for the Bank of Hawaii, said. “Being proactive in our communications and providing regular updates instills confidence in our preparation and the ability to handle the situation as it develops.”

Everbridge Aware enables an organization to assign administrative and broadcast roles to key members of the organization. It even includes a comprehensive set of reports that provide a detailed audit trail by broadcast of who was contacted and how and when they confirmed receipt of the message. Member, group and usage reports are also available.

Messages can be sent to any device via any method, including phone – mobile, land line and satellite – as well as email, instant messaging, text messaging, PDA, alpha or numeric pager and fax.

“As Hawaii's largest independent bank, the Bank of Hawaii's ability to maintain business continuity during emergencies and disasters is critical,” Cinta Putra, CEO for Everbridge, said.

Cinta Putra officials said that they are pleased to play a central role in the Bank of Hawaii's communication plan and applaud the bank's commitment to developing, implementing, testing and maintaining an effective business continuity program to protect the health and safety of its employees and ensure the continuity of operations and service.
