ADC's Precision Wireless Solutions Selected by Large Mobile Carriers

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Mobile signals and related services usually take a hot when there is a large crowd gathered in a small place. This is more evident in sports stadiums where thousands of fans come together to cheer their favorite teams. So, tackle this problem, two of the world’s largest mobile carriers have deployed ADC’s (News - Alert) InterReach Fusion, InterReach Unison, and FlexWave Prism distributed antenna systems, or “DAS.”

With InterReach Fusion, companies can implement state-of-the-art in-building wireless for campus environments and for areas greater than 250,000 square feet, or 23,000 square meters. InterReach Unison (News - Alert) operates as an extension of the public wireless network infrastructure. The FlexWaveT Prism is a new compact radio head for macro gap coverage that supports up to four frequencies.

These deployments will provide high-performance mobile voice and broadband data services for the subscribers of these two unnamed companies who are visiting Miami’s Sun Life Stadium, home to this year’s Pro Bowl and Super Bowl games. ADC DAS systems were selected because they uniquely deliver the capacity required to provide more than 75,000 seated guests.

“ADC is the only company with a product portfolio that is flexible enough to meet the demands of a complex environment,” said John Spindler (News - Alert), vice president of product management at ADC. “This stadium design uses our FlexWave Prism outdoor DAS products to broadly and cost-effectively cover the stadium’s exterior and parking facilities, while using our InterReach Fusion and Unison DAS products to deliver the dedicated channel capacity and precision coverage.”

Along with ADC InterReach Fusion 850/1900 MHz system with 97 remote antenna units, the deployment for one carrier also includes two FlexWave Prism remote units supporting 850 and 1900 MHz frequencies for exterior coverage. The other carrier deployment includes an InterReach Fusion system with 16 remote antenna units.

Recently, the company announced that its portfolio of Fiber Optic Panels has been accepted by the USDA Rural Development Telecommunications program, allowing ADC's products to be used in bringing improved, widespread broadband services to underserved and rural communities. These products are in addition to hundreds of other Rural Utilities Service (RUS)-listed products ADC offers.
