By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
With the holiday season soon approaching, the levels of competition in the wireless communications segment have been heating up. In light of this, WireFly, a retailer of cell phone and wireless services on the Web, recently released its choice for the “Top 10 Most Anticipated Cell Phone Launches.”
The Motorola Droid from Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless heads the list for the most anticipated cell phone, thanks in part to the launch of a nationwide campaign by the service provider. Details about the device specifications are still sketchy but the Android (News - Alert)-based device will be the first mobile device based on the new Android 2.0 platform and has been repeatedly referred to as the ‘iPhone killer.’
Verizon claims that the Droid can do everything that the iPhone (News - Alert) can’t-these include running multiple applications, a full slide out keyboard, changeable batteries and memory for a 5.0 megapixel camera that is equipped with night vision.
Next on the list is the Motorola CLIQ MB200 from T-Mobile (News - Alert). This phone is already available to existing customers of T-Mobile but new customers will get it only from November 2nd. It will be the first device since the G-I to have a full slide out keyboard. Based on the Android platform, this phone has a user interface that can simultaneously synch social media, contacts and e-mail instantly.
The Samsung (News - Alert) Moment comes in next on the list and is the second Android device from Sprint. As Samsung’s first Android phone, the devices offers a full slide out keyboard and a cutting edge AMOLED touch screen which focuses on providing a bright display without compromising battery longevity.
The complete list of the Top Ten Most Anticipated mobile devices can be accessed at the WireFly Web site. Andy Zeinfeld, CEO of Simplexity, the parent company of WireFly.com said, “Although not all of these devices have confirmed launch dates, we look forward to offering them to our customers on Wirefly.com, where they will be able to easily compare devices and rate plans across all wireless carriers to find the best fit for their needs.”
