MTS Allstream Signs Strategic Deal with Ciena

Canadian communication solutions company MTS Allstream has announced a strategic partnership with network specialist Ciena. This strategic move will allow MTS (News - Alert) Allstream to launch the next generation of Managed Wavelength Services to its business customers across Canada that demand resilient network solutions for mission critical applications.

 

MTS Allstream (News - Alert) has also become Managed Services Provider (MSP) partner by joining Ciena’s BizConnect global partner program.

 

MTS’ differentiated, high-speed managed optical services can transport any type of protocol or network traffic to a variety of customers in company’s target markets. Through this deal, the company will serve major Canadian metropolitan areas including Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

 

MTS Allstream’s managed optical networks will utilize Ciena’s CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform. The platform will allow MTS to deliver service flexibility and wavelength efficiency, while addressing high-bandwidth requirements for storage backup and disaster recovery needs.

 

MTS Allstream is also using the CN 4200. They have deployed the solution across its metro and regional infrastructure nationwide to support the transition from a legacy, ring-based SONET network to a next-generation, scalable architecture.

This combination offers their partners operational and management simplicity while enabling flexible high-value managed services that meet the needs of evolving enterprise applications.

Dean Prevost, president Enterprise Solutions, MTS Allstream said that announcement marks another milestone for their company in delivering true value to their customers.
