By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor
PTML, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation and that markets itself under the brand name Ufone (News - Alert), has signed an agreement with Teradata Corporation to expand its Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse.
According to Abdul Aziz, Ufone CEO, the Teradata (News - Alert) technology will be used to "better understand our customers and gain insight into their needs, and to be able to respond with matching services and offerings at competitive prices."
Since 2001, Ufone has used analytical products from Teradata to store information and analyze their information reserves.
Ufone has a subscriber base of over 20 million, network coverage in 10,000 locations and across all major highways of Pakistan, and currently offers International Roaming to more than 260 live operators in more than 150 countries.
Khuram Rahat, managing director, Teradata Pakistan said the agreement with Ufone should help the telecom "carry out detailed analysis and to make strategic and timely tactical decisions that better serve their customers while achieving optimal efficiencies in their operations."
TMC recently reported that Ufone launched the Awaz SMS service based upon Voice SMS technology from Kirusa (News - Alert) – allowing clients to offer a seamless Voice SMS experience to their mobile subscribers.
