Cavalier Acquires Assets of NET Telcos
By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor
Cavalier, a provider of competitive telecommunications services throughout the eastern United States, reportedly has acquired the assets of NET Telcos, a Richmond, Virginia-based provider of colocation and managed services.
NET (News - Alert) Telcos’ SAS 70-certified data center provides more than 4,000 square feet of colocation space and managed services, which include server virtualization, data backups, firewalls and e-mail hosting.
“As we grow our mid-market customer base, we see significant demand from corporate IT departments to reduce operating expenses and avoid large capital investments. At the same time customers face significant requirements for uninterruptable service availability, backup and archiving,” said Danny Bottoms, president and CEO of Cavalier.
Bottoms said that the company will address these needs by combining a managed services product set from NET Telcos with affordable, reliable connectivity using the company’s extensive fiber network.
According to Cavalier officials, the NET Telcos acquisition provides a solid platform for the company to expand colocation and managed services offerings to its current customer base in the mid-Atlantic region.
The company officials said that Cavalier’s current customers will have the ability to access the managed services provided in the data center using a variety of cost-effective access solutions, which provide the required bandwidth for server colocation, remote backup, disaster recovery and server replication.
“We are committed to providing customers new services, which address their evolving business requirements,” said Bottoms.
He said that NET Telcos’ colocation and managed services are the perfect complement to Cavalier’s extensive voice and data networks.
Back in December Cavalier had announced that Mosaic Community Services has selected its Enterprise Express Multiprotocol Label Switching solution to support Mosaic’s growing voice, video and data needs.
Cavalier’s MPLS-enabled VPN network will support Mosaic’s bandwidth and access requirements, including the necessary security and redundancy for Mosaic’s newly implemented electronic medical records system.
Mosaic, the largest outpatient behavioral health organization in Maryland, has grown to four major clinics, nearly 100 residences and a large staff of therapists and medical professionals.
