NitroSecurity Announces MARS Migration Program

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

NitroSecurity (News - Alert), specializing in performance security information and compliance management solutions, reportedly announced a new MARS Migration Program for organizations which are impacted by Cisco’s (News - Alert) new policy on event source support.

According to company officials, the program offers Analysis and Response System, or “MARS,”to users of Cisco’s Security Monitoring solution. MARS is a widely deployed Security Information and Event Management or SIEM platform.

Cisco has been informing customers about a freeze on MARS support for most non-Cisco event sources. Customers are asked to find an alternative for log collection and event analysis for non-Cisco event sources.

NitroSecurity will perform a free customized analysis of an organization’s current infrastructure providing a customized technology and financial solution. It provides credits for the existing MARS systems for migrating to NitroView, a content-aware SIEM platform.

Company sources explained that legacy SIEM solutions were slow and had information visibility limits imposed on standard network device and server logs. However, NitroView monitors all traffic in detail on the network up to the application layer, protocol use and individual sessions.

NitroView uses patented data storage and management technology to collect and manage billions of events, logs, network activity flows and application content. This also serves to maintain real-time analytics that are required in rapid incident response.

“The requirements around SIEM are radically changing,” Jon Oltsik, principal analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said, adding that large organizations need a platform that can help them address new security risks, analyze historical trends, support internal corporate governance initiatives and meet regulatory requirements. SIEM platforms must be able to provide massive scalability, strong analytics, content-awareness and broad support for heterogeneous IT assets.

Oltsik also said that SIEM vendors like NitroSecurity with products that offer all these capabilities are most suitable for large organizations.

NitroSecurity develops security information and compliance management solutions which protect business information and infrastructure. The company’s solutions reduce business risks and it correlates and remediates threats rapidly enabling organizations to mitigate risks to information and infrastructure.
