By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

The Federal Communications Commission in keeping with the Federal Committee Act recently announced that the organization’s Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council will conduct its first meeting on Dec. 7  at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in the FCC’s (News - Alert) Commission Meeting Room which is situated on 445 12th Street, SW, Room TW-C305 in Washington, DC.

Constituted as a Federal Advisory Committee, the CSRIC was organized to  make recommendations to the FCC about best practices and actions. These recommendations will be aimed to procuring optimal security, reliability and interoperability of communications systems, comprising the telecommunications, media and public safety communications systems. The FCC,  renewed the charter for the CSIC for another period of two years up Match 18, 2011.
At this meeting, the CSRIC will reflect on the responsibilities detailed in the CSRIC charter, the procedure for finishing these tasks, and the committee framework. Presentations are also expected from some constituent organizations. Members of the general public have also been invited to attend the meeting.

The FCC will try to make room for as many people as possible. However, entry will be restricted to seating availability. The commission will also undertake audio and/or video coverage of the meeting which will be streamed over the Internet. The video stream can be accessed from the FCC web page at http://www.fcc.gov/live
